  1. The unknown pink striped flowers are hanging on for now, though it’s gotten cold enough at night to kill most.
  2. The stems are taller than me, probably pushing six feet or more.  I have to stand on a rock to even think about getting a good picture.
  3. Silly old rap music that makes me feel nineteen again.  Also a bit like driving to the Canadian Niagara Falls.
  4. Guacamole.  How can you not love a dish made from the only vegetable that produces more than negligible amounts of fat?!?
  5. Weight.  I have gained it.  A buck twenty’s workable.  I blame the Pill, and part of my brain remembers something about gaining when you go on it, and then again when you go off it.  That second part might be excessive, but we shall see.  I think.

  1. Our house filled (but not overfilled) with friends and family to help us celebrate our five years.
  2. That they brought so much booze we may have to have another party to consume it all.
  3. Having family photos taken for the first time in six years.
  4. Seeing my siblings happily paired with their significant others.
  5. My brother and his girlfriend are thinking of getting a dog and it is sure to be hilariously named.

Let’s try this again, shall we?  That last one was really not very graceful, let alone grateful or gracious or in any way what it’s supposed to be.  Ahem.

  1. Beaujolais, waiting chilled at the end of an oppressively hot and humid summer day
  2. There are three red tomatoes finally!  Woohoo, ripe stuff!
  3. People still try to make me laugh.  I take this as a possible sign that even when I feel at my most hateful, I’m not like that quite enough, be it not that often or not as intensely as it seems to me, for people to steer clear of me regardless.  Good people, anyway.  You know what the rest of them can go do.
  4. I can even occasionally still make people laugh, it seems.  This makes me laugh in turn.  Lovely cycle, that one.
  5. Pasta, olive oil, garlic, mozzerella, parm, fresh garden tomatoes….how long do you think that cucumber has before it starts rotting?  I must be pushing it.  It’s…frightening, in a hilarious kind of way.

Grace in Small Things

  1. There is at least a plan, I think.  Kinda, anyway.
  2. I do still have a job, for the time being anyway, that provides insurance of a sort that might just help pay for part of this wacky plan.
  3. Coffee still exists.
  4. I am not the only one who sees a crisis of leadership around the office.
  5. I can refuse to be led by example; I will not panic.

  1. Being up early with a cup of coffee with the right timing to catch the hummingbird feeding at several of the Mexican sunflower blooms in the backyard
  2. An eight foot deep deep end and a diving board.  I like water.
  3. Browsing for wedding stuff with my sister
  4. The DO NOT DISTURB button on my office phone.  And pushing it.
  5. At least I won’t have to call home and check on children left behind when I head south for the girls’ weekend.  Now…what do I do when everyone else is doing that?  I know, stare dumbly into space!
