Resume

Holy fucking fuck. I was right that the seller is going to pay for replacement of furnace and repair of chimney, but good news must be accompanied by bad, no? Maybe it’s just us. The appraisal came back low. Lower than what we’d agreed to pay. Not cool. Now we gotta renegotiate. Fucking fuck. I’m going to lose my damn mind before this is settled. Gah.

This terminology is confusing me. If the appraisal comes back low that means you have to pay less or more? Please help the rent rat improve his home buying lexicon. It may require some elaborate explaining.Oh, and if you lose your mind you can always go out and shop for a new one!

It appraised for less than what we’d agreed to pay for it. Bad idea. So hopefully we’ll pay less, and the necessary repairs will still be at seller’s expense. Doesn’t seem like too much to ask, but it’s enough to drive me nucking futs.

Why wasn’t it appraised first before you went through and agreed on a price?

That I do not know. Our realtor has guided us through the process, and I guess this is not unusual, given what I find when I google “low home appraisal.” The appraisal is part of the mortgage process, but it would surely have been nice to know this sooner! Shit’s killing me.

Especially given the real estate market of late.. Too much homework is involved in this stuff anymore.

  6. i hope things are getting better…!

I hope so, too! We’re having another appraisal done tonight, hopefully this will finally settle everything. Fingers crossed!
